Some artists make music for fun, while others make it because it’s their lifeline. For Solo Tyree, music isn’t just something he does—it’s who he is. Growing up between the Bronx, NY, and Mobile, AL, he faced tough times, from living in shelters to navigating foster care. But instead of letting those struggles break him, he turned them into powerful songs that people can relate to.

In this exclusive interview, Solo opens up about his journey, his inspirations, and the moment he realized music was his true calling.

Q: You spent your early years in both the Bronx and Mobile. How did those places shape your perspective on life and music?

The Bronx is fast-paced, man. When I was there, it was all about basketball—that’s what kept me going. But when I moved to Mobile, AL, everything slowed down. I was still playing ball, but that’s when I really got into music. The two cities are so different, and I think that mix gave me a unique mindset. New York taught me to hustle, while Mobile gave me the space to find my sound.

Q: You’ve been through a lot—foster care, shelters. How did that influence your music?

Honestly, it just made me appreciate life more. A lot of people take the little things for granted, but when you’ve had nothing, you learn to value everything. My music is real because I’ve lived it. When I talk about struggles, pain, and survival, I know there are people out there who feel the same way. That’s why I put my truth in my music—so people can relate.

Q: You started music with your brother but took a break. What made you step away, and what brought you back?

Music wasn’t really my thing at first. I liked writing and coming up with songs, but I wasn’t serious about it. My brother and I were making music together, and I thought we had something, but things didn’t work out like we planned. I started working, and music just kinda fell to the side. But my mom—she wasn’t having that. She pushed me to get back in it, and looking back, I’m glad she did.

Q: Speaking of your mom, she played a big role in your music. How did she influence you?

She’s always been my biggest supporter. She told me to stay true to myself and never fake it for the industry. She also taught me to stay humble, no matter how big I get. She’s the reason I never quit, even when things got rough. She saw something in me before I even saw it myself.

Q: When did you realize music was something you wanted to take seriously?

When I started seeing the impact my music had on people. Like, when fans started telling me my songs helped them get through tough times, it hit different. I realized I wasn’t just making music—I was connecting with people. That’s when I knew this was what I was meant to do.

Q: You’ve done shows, interviews, and been on the radio. What’s been your most memorable moment so far?

I gotta say winning awards and getting that radio plaque from Hood Idol Radio—big shoutout to Lex Luga for that. But one moment that really stuck with me was this one show where, after I got off stage, the crowd showed so much love. People came up to me saying they really felt my music. Seeing kids sing my lyrics—that’s a feeling I can’t even explain. It’s all about love and positivity.

Q: What’s the biggest message you want people to take from your music?

Life is hard, but that don’t mean you gotta give up. I’ve been through a lot, and I know what it’s like to feel like there’s no way out. But you gotta keep pushing. Every song I drop has a message, you just gotta really listen. And most importantly, I always keep God first—that’s what keeps me grounded.

Solo Tyree isn’t just making music—he’s telling his story and inspiring others along the way. His journey proves that no matter where you come from, if you stay real, work hard, and never give up, you can make something of yourself. And with the love he’s getting from fans, it’s clear that Solo Tyree is just getting started.
