Unique’ AngEL, born Unique’ Angel Nelson, has never been easy to put in a box—and she likes it that way. Growing up in Cleveland, OH, music was more than just a hobby. It was therapy. Inspired by the power of Whitney Houston and the versatility of Mariah Carey, she started chasing a sound that was her own.
Writing Became Survival
As a kid, she kept a journal where every joy, heartbreak, and painful moment lived. Over time those entries turned into poetry, and poetry turned into songs. On paper she could say things she didn’t always have the courage to say out loud. “That was my freedom,” she reflects.

Finding Strength Through Change
Her late teens and twenties brought both challenges and growth. Motherhood pushed her to love herself more and to set an example for her daughter. In 2013, she made a bold move—leaving her hometown for Atlanta, GA, to start fresh. “Life, like music, is a journey through the soul,” she says. “If you’re brave enough to follow it, you’ll discover yourself.”
Acting and Music Collide
Atlanta gave her new opportunities on stage and in music. She recently grabbed the lead in Left Me Standing at the Alter and will appear in Sistah’ Girls Club on October 5, 2025, in Marietta, GA. At the same time, she’s been building a name in Atlanta’s live music scene, performing at venues that let her show both her vulnerability and her strength.

The Next Chapter: Cheating Heart
On October 1, 2025, she’ll release Cheating Heart—a new single with an alternative rock edge. It’s a different lane for her, but she embraces it. “Music is for the soul,” she says, “and I want to speak to everyone’s soul.”
