Nicole Procyk never set out to become a model. In fact, she almost ruled it out entirely.
“I never thought I could model because I’m not super tall and I have an athletic body,” she says. “What drew me to this industry was a total accident.”

Born and raised in Toronto, Nicole started her journey in the performance world by studying theatre in college. Her transition into modeling came unexpectedly—after investing in professional headshots for acting auditions, she posted them on a local talent platform. The response was immediate.

“I started getting messages asking to shoot, and I took the chance. The camera and I fell in love with each other. That first shoot was in 2013, and I haven’t stopped since.”

Over a decade later, Nicole has graced the pages of Playboy and FHM, strutted down the catwalk at Toronto Swim Week and The Vegan Fashion Show, and appeared at high-profile charity events like Babes of Toyland in Los Angeles.

“Seeing myself in big publications was surreal. Honestly, it felt like a dream come true. It was also a bit of a big F-you to anyone who doubted me,” she laughs.

Beyond Glamour: The Grit of Modeling

While her photos capture confidence and ease, Nicole is quick to break the illusion that modeling is all red carpets and makeup chairs.

“It’s definitely not as glamorous as it may seem. There’s a lot of waiting, fittings, rehearsals—and tons of last-minute changes,” she explains. “You have to adapt quickly. I’ve seen emotional overloads backstage because it can be intense. It’s not for the faint of heart.”

At the same time, she says, modeling has been a deeply empowering force in her life.

“I was definitely insecure growing up. Modeling helped me feel free and liberated—it unlocked a confidence I didn’t know existed.”

Charity Work and Cruelty-Free Fashion

One of the most meaningful chapters of her modeling career has been her involvement with Babes of Toyland, a charity event supporting causes like children’s hospitals, animal welfare, and American troops.

“Being Canadian, I didn’t have access to the same modeling network. But Babes of Toyland connected me with so many talented people—models, photographers, press like Getty Images and MaximoTV. It really helped elevate my career, and it’s for a good cause.”

Nicole is also proud to have walked in Canada’s first large-scale vegan fashion show, aligning her work with her personal values.

“The Vegan Fashion Show was such an amazing experience. It proved that cruelty-free fashion is not only possible—it’s desirable.”

Theatre Roots & Creative Comebacks

Nicole’s foundation in the arts has never left her. She trained in improv and puppetry at Toronto’s famed Second City and once performed in a puppet troupe featured at the Toronto Improv Comedy Festival.

“If someone asked me to dress up like a clown for a shoot, I’d say no problem,” she says. “Theatre gave me range, and it taught me not to be afraid of looking silly.”

After nearly a decade away from acting, she’s planning a return to the stage—or screen.

“I’ve lived, loved, and lost during that time. All of that adds to character development. I’d love to try theatre again now that I’m more confident and self-aware.”

Life Behind the Camera

Her jet-setting career has taken her from the crystal waters of the Philippines—where she swam with whale sharks—to Mexico, Costa Rica, and beyond. But it’s not just the scenery that stands out.

“It’s the people I’ve met that matter most. There are people I still visit every year, whether it’s for business or just lifelong friendship.”

Despite the whirlwind pace, Nicole carves out time for wellness and reflection. She’s embraced a more grounded lifestyle, focusing on sleep, skincare, therapy, and sobriety.

“I’m the most peaceful and sober I’ve ever been,” she says. “Self-care is about discipline and self-respect. It shows.”

What’s Next?

Nicole is heading to New York Fashion Week this fall and has a few surprise publications in the works. But her biggest goal is to keep evolving—creatively and personally.

“I’m a work in progress. I remind myself: it’s your journey, not theirs. Social media is just the internet. Use it as a tool—but don’t let it define you.”

Nicole’s story is one of quiet resilience, unexpected detours, and creative rebirth. Whether on the runway, in front of the lens, or back on stage, she’s doing it her way.
