Roxana Anghel is a multi-talented artist whose work spans writing, acting, modeling, and philanthropy. With nine books published in English, Greek, and Romanian, and numerous film and TV appearances, she has made her mark as a creative force. In this exclusive interview, Roxana opens up about her artistic journey, her passion for storytelling, and the universal themes of love and spirituality that run through her work.
Q: Roxana, you’ve built a fascinating career, crossing borders and excelling in so many areas—writing, acting, modeling, and more. What keeps you inspired across such a wide variety of creative fields?
I think it’s all about connection—whether it’s through words, performance, or even a simple conversation, I love connecting with people on a deeper level. Creativity for me is just a way to tap into that shared experience we all have as humans. Whether I’m acting, writing a new book, or giving a lecture, it’s always about expressing something that feels universal. Love, spirituality, and understanding are themes that really drive me in everything I do. And, of course, I love learning new things—every project teaches me something, and that keeps me going.
Q: Your latest book, Veins of Starlight (2024), has really resonated with readers. What inspired you to explore cosmic and spiritual themes in this work?
I think we’re all looking for a sense of belonging, not just on this planet but in the universe. Veins of Starlight is really about understanding our place in the cosmos, how we’re all connected by something larger than ourselves. It touches on themes of love, connection, and spirituality—things that transcend borders and cultures. We’re all stardust, as they say, and this book is my way of exploring that beautiful interconnectedness. It’s a blend of personal experiences and philosophical reflections, all wrapped up in a cosmic framework.
Q: You’ve also acted in films and TV shows, including Young Sheldon and Dancing with the Stars. How do you balance your time between acting and writing?
It’s not easy, I’ll admit that! But I love both, so I find a way. Acting and writing are two sides of the same coin for me—they’re both about storytelling. When I’m writing, I can create entire worlds from scratch, but when I’m acting, I get to bring someone else’s world to life. Each one feeds the other. For example, when I write, I think about how a character would come to life on screen, and when I’m acting, I think about the story behind the scenes. It’s all about balance and letting each passion inform the other. As for Grey’s Anatomy—well, I can’t say much about that yet! I have to wait until my episodes air, but I’m really excited for people to see it.
Q: You’ve written in so many genres, from children’s books to political essays. What’s your next big writing project?
I’m working on a book that’s really close to my heart—it’s about my world trips and the adventures I’ve had while connecting with different cultures. Traveling has opened my eyes to how interconnected we all are, despite our differences. This book will dive into how experiencing other cultures shapes our society and our personal perspectives. I want to share those experiences, the lessons I’ve learned, and how they’ve changed the way I see the world. Alongside that, I’m also juggling a few other projects. I always have multiple ideas brewing!
Q: Your humanitarian work, particularly with children in India and Africa, has been a big part of your life. How has that influenced your creative work?
Oh, it’s had a huge impact. When you spend time with people who are going through so much, yet they still have hope, it really changes your perspective. I’ve visited children in both India and Africa, and their resilience is inspiring. It grounds me, and it makes me want to use my platform for more than just entertainment. I want to make a difference. That’s why you’ll often find themes of empathy and compassion in my work. Whether it’s a book or a film, I try to reflect the idea that we’re all in this together. It’s important for me to not just tell stories, but to tell stories that matter.
Q: You’ve been interviewed by some big names and appeared on platforms like iHeart Radio and the Beverly Hills Film Festival. What do you enjoy most about sharing your story in interviews like this?
I love the connection. Every time I do an interview, I feel like I’m having a conversation with people I might never meet in real life. It’s a chance to share my journey, but also to inspire others. I’ve been through a lot, and I think we all have stories that can help each other. Interviews are a way for me to give back and maybe help someone who’s listening or reading to see that they’re not alone. Plus, I always end up reflecting on things in new ways when I talk about them—so it’s a two-way street!
Q: Finally, what’s next for you? Any big goals or dreams you’re aiming for in the future?
I’m always aiming for growth, both personally and creatively. I want to continue creating work that’s meaningful, that touches people’s hearts. There’s a lot on the horizon—a few more books, more film projects, and hopefully expanding my humanitarian work. I also want to spend more time educating people about the power of spiritual connection and global culture. Life is all about learning and evolving, and I’m excited to see where the journey takes me next!
