For years, patients in Bangladesh living with autoimmune disease were told to manage their pain, adjust their lives, and accept that some damage could not be reversed. Surgery, long-term medication, and temporary relief were often the only options.
Dr. Monzur A. Khoda didn’t agree with that.
Today, he is recognized as Bangladesh’s first Interventional Rheumatologist and one of the country’s leading voices in regenerative medicine. His work is helping patients with chronic joint pain and autoimmune conditions find alternatives that focus on healing, not just symptom control.
Looking Beyond Conventional Treatment
Autoimmune diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, scleroderma, vasculitis, and osteoarthritis are complex. They don’t affect only the joints—they change how people live, work, and move through the world.
Early in his career, Dr. Khoda saw the limits of standard treatment. Medications helped manage flare-ups, but they rarely addressed the underlying damage. That realization pushed him toward interventional rheumatology, a field that uses image-guided, non-surgical procedures and regenerative therapies to repair tissue and reduce pain.
At present, he is the only physician in Bangladesh practicing this specialty.

Training Abroad, Purpose at Home
Dr. Khoda graduated from Rajshahi Medical College & Hospital in 2014 before moving to the United Kingdom for postgraduate training in internal medicine. In 2019, he earned his MRCP from the Royal College of Physicians in London.
Over the next several years, he trained across the UK and Europe, working with patients suffering from severe autoimmune and rheumatological conditions. It was during this time that he became deeply involved in regenerative medicine, particularly stem cell therapy and platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
While opportunities abroad continued to grow, Dr. Khoda made a decision many doctors don’t. He came back to Bangladesh.
Introducing Regenerative Medicine to Bangladesh
When Dr. Khoda returned, regenerative medicine was still unfamiliar to most patients—and many professionals. There was hesitation. There were questions. And there was doubt.
Instead of pushing trends, he focused on results. Patient outcomes, clinical evidence, and careful education slowly changed attitudes. Over time, more patients began choosing non-surgical options, especially for knee osteoarthritis and chronic joint pain.
In many cases, regenerative treatments reduced pain, improved mobility, and delayed or eliminated the need for surgery.
Global Credentials, Local Impact
In 2025, Dr. Khoda earned two major international distinctions: Membership of the American College of Physicians (MACP) and Diplomate of the American Board of Regenerative Medicine (DABRM).
That same year, he received the Asia’s Icon Award for his work in regenerative medicine, particularly for treating knee osteoarthritis using stem cells and PRP.
While the recognition was international, the impact remained local—seen daily in patients who regained movement and independence.

A Different Way of Treating Chronic Illness
Dr. Khoda’s clinical work covers stem cell therapy, PRP injections, ultrasound-guided joint procedures, advanced biologics, and monoclonal antibody treatments for autoimmune disease.
He also works with biologic therapies from global pharmaceutical leaders including Roche, Novartis, Pfizer, AbbVie, AstraZeneca, Lilly, Amgen, UCB, GSK, Johnson & Johnson, and Baxter—an uncommon practice in Bangladesh’s healthcare system.
What stands out, however, is how he treats the person, not just the disease.
Where Science Meets Holistic Care
Chronic autoimmune illness carries emotional and mental weight. Dr. Khoda acknowledges that reality by incorporating breathwork, cold therapy, and other mind-body practices into care plans when appropriate.
The goal is balance—using advanced medical science while recognizing the role of stress, mindset, and overall well-being in long-term recovery.
Practice, Research, and Recognition
Dr. Khoda currently sees patients at Popular Diagnostics and the American Wellness Center in Dhaka. He is also involved in clinical research and has published work on treating knee osteoarthritis with stem cells and PRP.
His contributions have been recognized at international medical forums, including the Global Orthopedic Summit in Dubai, and through awards highlighting his role in health innovation.
Redefining Expectations
Dr. Monzur A. Khoda is part of a new generation of physicians reshaping healthcare in Bangladesh. His work challenges the idea that chronic pain must be permanent and that surgery is always the final answer.
For many patients, his approach has offered something they were not expecting: options.
