Born and raised in Brooklyn, J. Alcide has always been destined for the stage. Whether it’s singing, acting, or poetry, this multi-talented artist—who once performed under the name Logan—has never been afraid to show off his skills. What makes his journey even more remarkable is that he’s been doing all of this while navigating life with a disability.

For J. Alcide, the stage has always felt like home. As a child, he was frequently cast as the lead in community plays, often the character who had to carry a solo. His love for performance was clear from the start. It wasn’t long before his talent spilled over into music, and when J. Alcide started recording, there was no stopping him.

A Rising Star in Music

J. Alcide’s hustle in the recording booth quickly paid off. His tracks have been featured on albums that charted on CMJ and have gained airplay on major platforms like Pandora, iHeartRadio, and WBLS. He’s had the chance to open for legendary acts such as Mr. Cheeks, Keith Murray, Erykah Badu, Big Daddy Kane, and Busta Rhymes, among others.

Despite the challenges that come with having a disability, J. Alcide’s work ethic and talent have made waves in the industry. He’s collaborated with a variety of artists, including Rock from Heltah Skeltah, V12 Vital, and Goodz. His resilience is also reflected in the accolades he’s picked up along the way, from winning Artist of the Year at the Elegant Hoodness Awards to being twice nominated for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist at the Underground Music Awards.

On Screen and In the Community

J. Alcide’s creative range extends beyond music. He’s made his mark in acting, most notably as Josh in the web series Cold World. But what truly sets him apart is his deep commitment to giving back. Outside of performing, J. Alcide is heavily involved in his community, particularly with the mentally and developmentally disabled populations, as well as homeless veterans.

His performances have graced events raising awareness for breast cancer, domestic violence, HIV, and lupus, and he’s participated in fundraisers for victims of Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Sandy. One of his proudest moments? Performing at the Disability Awards in New York City and the first-ever graduation ceremony for an ACT TEAM program.

Inspiring Through Action

J. Alcide isn’t just performing for applause—he’s on a mission to inspire others, especially those with disabilities. His goal is to show that a joyful, fulfilling life is possible no matter the challenges. He is launching a Thisability campaign to further his message: it’s not about making excuses, but about owning your abilities.

What’s Next for J. Alcide

J. Alcide is gearing up for the next phase of his career. With new music projects on the horizon and a growing presence in the entertainment industry, he’s ready to take things to the next level. Whether it’s in music, acting, or community work, J. Alcide is proof that hard work and self-belief can break down any barriers.

J. Alcide is living proof that the entertainment industry is big enough for everyone—disability or not—and he’s determined to be at the forefront of that change.
