From humble beginnings in Lansing, Michigan, to making his mark in Hollywood as a voice actor, stunt performer, musician, writer, and director, Chris’s journey is the kind that reads like a Hollywood script. From Lansing to L.A.: The Early Spark
Born on February 16, 1982, in Lansing, Michigan, Chris was raised in a household filled with music and creativity. His mother, Gloria Sanford, was a passionate singer and performer who once competed on Star Search. Although her career never took off the way she’d hoped, Gloria planted seeds of artistry in her children — especially Chris.
Driven to fulfill a dream passed down from his mother, Chris taught himself to play piano, guitar, and master MIDI music production. He produced for local artists and became part of a group named Mirage, achieving local buzz and even opening for Boyz II Men’s Wanya Morris.
After a brief stint in New York, working under major music industry mentors from ASCAP and Def Jam, Chris realized he needed to carve his own path. That led to the creation of Phineqx Entertainment, an independent label he launched with his brother Seyque. Their debut album sold over 4,000 copies, and their mixtapes moved over 47,000 units — an impressive feat for a completely self-driven indie label in the early 2000s.
A Leap of Faith into Hollywood
After the success in music, Chris felt an undeniable pull toward visual storytelling. Inspired by X2: X-Men United, he packed his bags and drove with four friends cross-country to Los Angeles. They shared a one-room apartment off Hollywood Blvd, surviving on dreams and determination.
While attending Los Angeles Valley College, Chris began studying martial arts and was introduced to stunt work. He started training with elite stunt performers and eventually joined 8711, the world-renowned action design team behind The Matrix, John Wick, and 300. He was mentored by Chad Stahelski, who would go on to become the director of the John Wick franchise.
That training led to roles in blockbuster films like Captain America: Civil War, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and television shows like Supergirl, where Chris performed stunts for the character Martian Manhunter.
Finding His Voice in Voice Acting
Chris didn’t stop with stunts. He added yet another skill to his arsenal: voice acting. Signing with the Osbrink Agency, he quickly became a fan favorite in video games and anime, lending his voice to iconic roles such as:

He appeared in City of Lies alongside Johnny Depp and Forest Whitaker, played Michael Key in Criminal Minds, and had a prominent role in Extraction with Chris Hemsworth. He also acted opposite Ryan Phillippe in Erin’s Garden and with Bruce Dern in Overrun.
Behind the Camera: The Director’s Chair
Not content with just performing, Chris took his creativity behind the camera. He wrote, directed, and starred in the indie feature film Get the Girl, co-starring Sean Patrick Flanery. The movie, self-funded and passionately executed, was a labor of love that challenged him in new ways and confirmed his place as a multi-dimensional storyteller.
Currently, he’s working on Uber for Hitmen, a project based on the graphic novel Blanket, in collaboration with Garret Warren (second unit director for Avatar and acclaimed stunt coordinator).

Chris’s path hasn’t been easy. Like many artists trying to break into Hollywood, he faced financial setbacks, false promises, and industry scams. But instead of backing down, he diversified. His ability to act, fight, write, sing, produce, and voice characters gave him a unique edge — one that allowed him to stay relevant in an industry that’s constantly evolving.
